<p style="line-height: 20px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font-size: 15px;">Duque–who tweets at <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://twitter.com/Blabbeando">@Blabbeando</a> for his English-language followers and <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://twitter.com/NoticiasLGBT">@NoticiasLGBT</a> in Spanish–began tweeting translations of the debate after <strong>Joe Jervis</strong> at JoeMyGod posted a link to the live debate.</p>
<p style="line-height: 20px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font-size: 15px;">“I was sitting and watching and figured, why not?” Duque told <strong>Mediaite</strong>. “I’d been writing and thinking a lot about gay marriage in Argentina and I saw that a lot of people were having trouble following the debate, so I decided to jump in.”</p>
<p style="line-height: 20px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font-size: 15px;">Staying up all night and providing play-by-play, Duque said he started getting many followers and retweets and he knew that he was one of the few people doing significant coverage of the vote in the U.S. and in Argentina.</p>
<p style="line-height: 20px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font-size: 15px;">He quickly jumped on the #matrimoniogay hashtag and <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://twitter.com/Blabbeando/status/18583810509">his tweet</a> after the vote–<a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" title="#ARG" rel="nofollow" href="http://twitter.com/search?q=%23ARG">#ARG</a> MARRIAGE EQUALITY IS LAW IN ARGENTINA 33-27 <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" title="#MatrimonioGay" rel="nofollow" href="http://twitter.com/search?q=%23MatrimonioGay">#MatrimonioGay</a> <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" rel="nofollow" href="http://bit.ly/aTau1" target="_blank">http://bit.ly/aTau1</a>–has been retweeted almost 100 times.</p>
<p style="line-height: 20px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font-size: 15px;">Duque has found a citizen journalism niche in covering LGBT issues in the Latino community and in Latin America.  He says that his goal isn’t to be provocative, even if it drives hits, but instead just to provide information.  The former HIV/AIDS activist in New York City <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://blabbeando.blogspot.com/2010/03/coming-out-of-ricky-martin-reactions.html">covers people like</a> <strong>Ricky Martin</strong>, but also the <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://blabbeando.blogspot.com/2010/05/guest-post-link-between-prop-8-and.html">immigration debate</a> in the U.S., Medellin, <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://blabbeando.blogspot.com/2010/07/first-and-final-gay-pride-march.html">attending his first gay pride parade</a> in Colombia, and <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://blabbeando.blogspot.com/2010/06/argentina-at-fifa-world-cup-homosex-on.html">the World Cup</a>.</p>
<p style="line-height: 20px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font-size: 15px;">Unlike a lot of citizen journalists, Duque’s focus isn’t on blogging.  Instead, he uses <strong>Twitter</strong>,<strong>Facebook</strong>, and <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.youtube.com/user/Blabbeando"><strong>YouTube</strong> to spread the news</a>.</p>
<p style="line-height: 20px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font-size: 15px;">He has recently had success in translating videos and newsclips from Spanish to English.  <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BDOOvu5luk&amp;feature=youtu.be">Two</a><a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oN8I8Gk-BMU&amp;feature=youtu.be">videos</a> from Argentina on gay marriage became viral sensations, all with translations and subtitles by Duque, <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/07/the-status-quo.html">landing on </a><strong>Andrew Sullivan</strong> and <strong>Dan Savage’s</strong> <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2010/07/12/another-great-marriage-equality-ad-from-argentina">blogs.</a> He <a style="color: #002030; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixVrmrQg9AM">has a new video</a> out translating an announcement by Argentina’s president <strong>Cristina Fernández de Kirchner</strong> defending her support of the gay marriage bill.</p>
<p style="line-height: 20px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font-size: 15px;">In the end, Duque says his goal is to “be a part of driving the story” and gaining more exposure for Latinos in the gay community and telling the stories of LGBT people throughout Latin America.</p>

<p>The art comes to Axel Hotels Buenos Aires by the hand of the artist RAUL CONTI, come and discover the works of this artist born in Argentina in 1931 and a U.S. citizen since 1996.</p>
<p>Hands are shaken and pick up the Suns, flowering plants with roots above ground suggesting uprooted youth, bright yellow, the rebirth of corn or American sentiment, a broken color, the lonely death of the native Indian, plants, earth, fertility and rebellion are part of the wonderful world that reveals this great painter.</p>
<p>Raul Conti has made important individual exhibitions in Argentina, Panama, Colombia, United States, Spain and Puerto Rico. Between his works we can find pictures, aerotintas, serigraphs, etchings, tapestries, paintings and sculptures, over 50 years of work</p>
<p>On Wednesday April 28th at 19:30 at Axel Hotel Buenos Aires</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">This week in Buenos Aires, Judge Gabriela Seijas granted Alex Freyre and Jose Maria Di Bello, a gay couple, permission to become legally wed, a ruling considered by many as the catalyst for change, setting a precedent which is likely to pave the way for Argentina to become the first in Latin America nation to allow same-sex marriage. Her ruling however, much like what has happened here in the U.S., could be overturned by city officials.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In her ruling Seijas stated:</p>
<blockquote style="text-align: justify;"><p>“The law should treat everyone with the same respect according to their singularities, without the need to understand or regulate them.”</p></blockquote>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Buenos Aires became the region’s first city to approve civil unions in 2002, but the judges decision is expected to lite a fire under the lawmakers to reach a decision on the issue as the debate over a gay marriage bill currently deadlocked in their congress.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Hopefully the law will pass in the largely Catholic country, setting a precedence for other nations to follow, including the U.S.</p>

<p>Lawmakers are currently working towards making Argentina the first Latin American country to legalize same-sex marriage. They would become the second country after Canada in the Americas to end marriage discrimination.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A growing number of supporters in Argentine Congress began the debate last Thursday on whether or not to change the law that defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">If course, and in the U.S., the major opposition comes from Catholic and evangelical Christian groups, who are accusing the government of attempting to destroy marriage and the family as an institution.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Of the 40 million people living in the country, most are Catholic and the church has had a great influence over politics. Until 1994, it was a prerequisite that the president and vice president had to be married and members of the Catholic Church.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In 2002, the nations capital, Buenos Aires, legalized civil unions for LGBT couples, and four other cities followed the lead.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Uruguay is currently the only Latin American country to recognize gay unions.</p>
