Replacement Prom – But You Can’t Come!

balihaicorsage-21There will be a prom, but you can’t come!  In the latest twist of the canceled prom saga surrounding Constance McMillen it would seem that some of the parents and students have arranged their own replacement prom,  and the shy 18 year old lesbian has NOT been invited.

Following McMillen’s appearance on  nationally and internationally  syndicated Ellen DeGeneres Show, the school board have responded by announcing  parents have organized a private prom at a furniture mart in nearby Tupleo.

Because the school district is not organizing the event,  is not involved,  the ‘constitutional claims’  of the ACLU  law suit are irrelevant, at least that’s what the school board feel

“Constance has not been invited, so it is clear to me that what is happening is that the school has encouraged a private prom that is not open to all the students,”  said  ACLU  Christine Sun.  ”That’s what Constance is fighting for – a prom where everyone can go.”

During her TV show, Ellen told Constance that she was  part of a new generation of leaders for her stand for gay rights and presented her with a $30,000 college scholarship check from Tonic.com. “I admire you so much,” Ellen told her. “When I was your age, I never would have had the strength to do what you are doing.”

Tonic.com also offered McMillen a summer internship in New York City, DeGeneres said.
