Open every closet in Havana.

When we opened this marvel 10 minutes from Malecón, we thought we were dreaming. The oldest hotel in Cuba was being converted into a safe space for the LGBTQIA community.

Obtaining a hotel in Havana was not easy. At some point we thought we would not be able to. But this hotel being El Telégrafo was something that we could not even have imagined. It is an emblematic colonial building that was once the first telegraph station in the country. Of course, this is the origin of its name.

El Telégrafo Axel Hotel La Habana is a jewel with a blue and white facade at the centre of Old Havana. With a swimming pool with spectacular views of the city, a patio with half-pointed arches and a restaurant that combines authentic Cuban cuisine with international gastronomy, this place is a perfect mixture of classic architecture and contemporary design. It is a fusion as timeless as the pulse of the city.

You will find it on the corner of Prado and Neptuno, a short walk from the Capitolio and the Museo de Bellas Artes, but also from legendary bars such as La Bodeguita del Medio and La Floridita, whose mojitos and daiquiris inspired artists and writers such as Ava Gardner, Nat King Cole and Ernest Hemingway.
